Convert Wealthsimple statements to Excel or CSV
Wealthsimple is one of the few places that already offers statements as CSV, including a bulk download of monthly statements as a ZIP. So this page is mostly for when you only have the PDF: statements a client forwarded, a lender's request that arrived as PDFs, or a statement you need to match line for line.

What to know about Wealthsimple statements
Look for the CSV button first
Each statement in Documents has a PDF button and a CSV button, and the Activity tab exports a CSV too. If you have access to the account, those files are the cleanest source. Converting makes sense when the PDF is what you were handed.
Paperless, monthly, from September 2023
Wealthsimple doesn't provide paper statements. Monthly statements are ready by the 8th business day of the following month, and chequing statements begin in September 2023. For earlier periods you'll need other records.
Activity statements have no balances
A custom activity statement lists transactions but no account balances, so there's nothing to check the rows against. For figures you need to reconcile, the regular monthly statements are the better source to convert.
Investment statements look different
TFSA, RRSP, cash and crypto accounts don't share one layout, and investment statements carry columns a bank statement lacks, such as symbol, quantity and price. The output is built around cash movements: dates, descriptions and signed amounts. Check that buys, sells and dividends have the sign you expect.

Accounting tip
Import chequing activity into QuickBooks Online or Xero as a bank statement CSV, using the ready-made layout for each. Sage Accounting also imports a CSV of bank transactions. Keep investment holdings in separate accounts rather than in the bank feed.
