How to get your Tangerine statement into Excel

Download the PDF statement from Tangerine online banking
- Log in to tangerine.ca or the Tangerine app.
- On the web, choose the account and select the 'Statements' button; in the app, tap 'More', then 'Profile & Settings', and select 'Documents'.
- Open the statement for the period you need.
- Save the statement for the period you need as a PDF.

What to know about Tangerine statements
Download Transactions is on the website
The transaction download lives on tangerine.ca, not in the Mobile Banking app. If you mostly bank on your phone, the statement in the app's Documents section may be the easier file to grab, and converting it gives you the same kind of rows.
Monthly online, quarterly on paper
Electronic statements are monthly for every account except investment funds, which are quarterly, while paper statements are quarterly. Chequing is paperless only. If you're working from paper copies, expect three months per statement and upload them in order so the period check can confirm there are no gaps.
Merchant on one line, location on the next
Card purchases can span two lines. Pasted into Excel, the location becomes a row of its own. The converter keeps it in the description of the purchase it belongs to.
Savings statements and interest
A savings statement is mostly transfers and interest, so there are few rows and every one matters to the balance. The rows are added to the opening balance and compared with the closing balance; if an interest line goes missing, the difference shows.

Accounting tip
Keep the QFX download for Quicken. For QuickBooks Online or Xero, upload the matching ready-made CSV to the bank account and confirm the columns, and in Sage Accounting import the plain CSV. Post each account separately so savings interest is easy to total.
