What to know about M&T Bank statements
Check images on their own pages
M&T statements can include pages that hold only check images. Those pages break the flow if you copy text page by page. The converter skips image-only pages and reads the transaction listing, where every check already appears with its amount.
Minus signs after the number
Some amounts are printed with the minus at the end and a dollar sign in front. Excel files that as text, not a number. Each one is read as a negative value with the symbol removed, so the amount column sums properly.
Debit card lines carry merchant and location
Each debit card purchase on the monthly checking statement shows the date, amount, merchant name and location. Merchant and location stay together in the description, which makes it easier to categorise spending by vendor later.
Business accounts: Account Analysis
Business clients can also receive a monthly Account Analysis statement, grouped by service with summary and detail levels. It deals with service charges rather than deposits and withdrawals, so convert the account statement when you want transactions.
