How to get your Chime statement into Excel

Download the PDF statement from Chime online banking
- Open the Chime app or log in on the Chime website.
- In the app, tap Profile, then Documents > Account statements; on the web, click Profile > Documents.
- Select the statement to download it (in the app, tap the export icon).
- Save the statement for the period you need as a PDF.

What to know about Chime statements
Checking, savings and Credit Builder sections
One statement can carry separate sections for Checking, Savings and the Credit Builder secured account. Chime notes that a section may show a $0 ending balance even though money is available, so read each section's balance on its own terms, and post each section's rows to the matching account in your books.
Written-out dates become sortable ones
Dates are printed with the month spelled out, like Jan 15, 2024. Spreadsheets don't always recognise that as a date, so sorting goes wrong. Every date is rewritten as 2024-01-15, which sorts correctly and imports cleanly.
No paper copies to fall back on
With no physical statements, the PDFs in Documents are your only copies, and if you lose access to the app and website you have to phone for them. Save each statement when it appears. Later, upload the saved files together and any missing month is pointed out.

Accounting tip
If you run a side business through this account, upload the QuickBooks-ready CSV to the bank account in QuickBooks Online and confirm the column mapping, or use the Xero-ready file with Xero's statement import. Categorise once with bank rules and repeat payees sort themselves.

Opening balance plus transactions is checked against the closing balance. Duplicate or missing periods are flagged.
