What to know about Santander UK statements
Midata: twelve months, masked
The midata download covers 12 months of current account transactions and masks personal details. That's fine for budgeting. For a full statement period with balances, a lender's request or anything older than a year, convert the statement PDF.
Two kinds of year
Dates can appear as DD/MM/YY or DD/MM/YYYY. Both are normalised to YYYY-MM-DD, so 05/04/24 doesn't become 1924 or the 4th of May, and a file mixing old and new statements sorts correctly.
Statements in the Mailbox
In the app, statements sit in the Mailbox under 'Statements and documents' rather than on the account page, which is easy to miss. Once saved, they convert like any other PDF, and a batch is checked for overlapping or missing months.
Pence and decimals
Pasted amounts sometimes lose their alignment, so a figure like 45.60 turns into 45.6 or slides into the next column. The output reads each amount as a signed number, and because the rows have to add up to the closing balance, a shifted figure stands out.

Sage Accounting only reads extra columns such as Reference or Payee if their headings match Sage's own list, so keep the import to Date, Description and Amount, the QuickBooks-ready layout. Its dates are already in a slash format, dd/mm/yyyy; Sage then asks which date format the file uses.
